Responsible Painting, Deck, Epoxy Flooring Company in Hartford County, CT
We not only adhere to the highest industry standards, we strive to be the industry leader in the interior and exterior painting and other related services we provide.
After the New Britain Rock Cats played their last game, New Britain quickly brought in a new team: The Bees. For their new arrival, the New Britain Stadium needed a renovation to celebrate and welcome its new team. Scholar Painting and Restoration was up to the job!
Having to start in the winter of 2015 made this job a little more difficult than others. The stadium lacked heating, and some of the many tasks we were assigned were inside the stadium or took place outside which was exposed to the elements (for instance, 75% of the exterior fencing needed to be rebuilt and painted). We had to wait for good weather for those outdoor tasks, and for the indoor tasks, we needed to provide our own heating. We brought in four 50,000 BTU heaters which consumed 300 gallons of diesel a week.
Another challenge we faced was the complex patterns we had to paint on the cinderblock, and the dark colors we needed to cover up after years of neglect and damage. Our tactics for dealing with these two issues were using very specific products and be sure to thoroughly clean the walls before we prepped and painted. We used Loxon Concrete and Masonry Primer to get the walls ready for paint application, and in order to cover the dark paint from the previous style, we used Emerald Exterior Paint and, for the yellow specifically, Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex. The Duration paint made it easier for us to give the yellow in the design a bright and even appearance with fewer coats. For the finish, we used an epoxy coating that would provide an impact-resistant finish. We used exterior paint and products on the indoor and outdoor surfaces of the stadium since it is not climate-controlled.
Finishing this job in a mere two and a half months was tight but we stayed on schedule and got the job done. The Bees received a warm welcome, and the fans that attended games at the stadium loved the renovation.
Union Station Canopy and Bus Terminal
The Union Station Canopy was originally built in 1889 and needed serious repairs and restorations. A beautiful and historic structure, the Union Station Canopy required and deserved our utmost care. We put our expert historical restoration team on the job, and we are thrilled with how it came out.
The list of repairs and restorations required by the Union Station Canopy was extensive. We were responsible for repairing and painting all the structural steel on the canopy structure, disposing of any paint containing lead following EPA RRP regulations, installing new LED light fixtures, and custom down-spouts, repairing the concrete bases along the entire length of the structure and installing new signage. For these tasks, we used a variety of products, including Macropoxy 646 and Sherwin-Williams' High Solids 250 in Gloss.
The job went off with nearly no hitches! The lead paint removal needed a bit of extra time and caution but went smoothly. The only real challenge we faced was working around the patrons of the train and bus depot. In order to not interrupt the flow of transportation, our team worked extended hours and even weekends to complete the project in the given time frame.
We were thrilled with the outcome of this project and are happy to have preserved such a wonderful piece of history that is still a mainstay of many peoples' daily routines.

Simsbury Public Library - Interior Painting - Simsbury, CT
The Simsbury Public Library was in need of a complete interior painting update to their Children's Department which included the walls and pillars located within this area. There were a variety of paint colors used to make this area vibrant for the children who will be using the library. This is a high traffic area so we made sure to use all Sherwin Williams paint that will withstand the many uses of these areas.
